Lidar Capabilities
LIDAR data contain high resolution measurements of the Earth's surface including the sea floor. With multiple LIDAR programs supported by federal, state, and educational funding, chances are LIDAR data have been collected in your study area. CPE has the tools necessary to handle the voluminous nature of LIDAR data, and extract meaningful numbers to support our clients' coastal management decisions. Example products are base maps, digital elevation models (DEMs), contours, bare earth (filtered) surface generation, geomorphological mapping, benthic habitat mapping, shoreline change, and volume change. CPE has the ability to rapidly quantify change caused by hurricanes, and we provide not only the amount of change but also where the change occurred to guide emergency response. From generating base maps to determine favorable areas for sand searches to generating DEMs and contours to indicate where low lying dunes may be overtopped during a storm surge, CPE has the ability to customize a LIDAR analysis package to support your projects.
